Volkswagen India readies six-model offensive for 2026
Rounding out the new model introductions for India for this year could be the ID.4 electric SUV, which would mark Volkswagen’s formal entry into the Indian EV market. Beyond the Tayron R-Line SUV that will go on sale soon, Volkswagen’s India roadmap for 2026 includes five additional launches, spanning facelifts, a new compact SUV, a performance model and a potential electric vehicle entry.
First up, facelifts of the Taigun and Virtus, currently Volkswagen’s highest-selling models in India are incoming. The updates will focus on minor design tweaks, interior and infotainment and feature additions to keep them competitive.
New Entry-Level SUV
An all-new compact SUV that will be the brand’s new entry-level product for India is expected to be one of the most important launches this year. It will be based on the Skoda Kylaq and is expected to play a critical role in expanding the brand’s addressable market and improving showroom footfalls.
Sources tell us that Volkswagen has planned a second CBU lot of the GTI, following strong demand from the first limited batch. Volumes are expected to continue to remain niche.
Electric Vehicle Debut
