Lake District ranked among top EV-friendly destinations in the UK
New data from Volta EV found a high number of public charging points near the area's most popular beauty spots.
Ambleside and Lake Windermere share joint-first place in a new ranking for EV-friendly tourism, with both offering 25 public charging points within 10km radius.
Derwentwater also performs strongly, placing it among the top three destinations with 22 chargers nearby, while Buttermere also features amongst the top 30 destinations.
Chris Moniz, founder of Volta Charge Points, said: "For many drivers, the availability of charging can make or break a trip.
"Having two Lake District beauty spots ranked among the most EV-accessible in the UK shows how well-placed the region is to attract electric vehicle tourism and support greener travel choices."
The findings highlight the growing importance of EV infrastructure in influencing domestic travel.
With more visitors opting for sustainable transport, areas with reliable public charging are seeing an advantage over less-equipped destinations.
The analysis positions the Lake District as a leading choice for eco-friendly road trips during the busy spring and summer travel seasons.
The data comes amid a wider discussion on regional charging infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the data on local authorities shows that Westmorland and Furness currently ranks 66th among UK authorities, with 15.8 public charging devices per 100km as of October 2025.
