Surgeon guilty of professional misconduct over death of Jessica Sheedy should get ‘significant’ sanction, inquiry hears
Jessica Sheedy (18) suffered massive blood loss during operation at UHLA surgeon guilty of professional misconduct over the death of teenager Jessica Sheedy should be given a “very significant” sanction for his failings in her care, an inquiry has been told.A lawyer for the Medical Council of Ireland’s CEO said the “catastrophic” loss of Ms Sheedy’s life following an operation was the “gravest possible harm” that could be caused and if the surgeon Dr Ashish Lal is allowed to return to practise, it should be under “extensive restrictions."
