Co-accused given sentencing and trial dates over death of dad-of-seven William Moorehouse
A man has been given a sentencing date over actions linked to the death of Wicklow father-of-seven William Moorehouse, who was found dead in a playground in Bray in January last year.Additionally several of his co-accused have been sent forward for trial at Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court.Kris Kiggins (32), of no fixed abode, was not present before the court, with counsel for the prosecution, James Kelly BL, informing the court that the defendant had been arraigned at a previous sitting and is due to be sentenced on February 18, 2026.Mr Kiggins is to be sentenced in respect of the production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury and one count of violent disorder.Jamie O’Connor Kyle O’Connor In separate but related proceedings arising from the same incident, Jamie O’Connor (21), of Ballywaltrim Heights, Bray, Co. Wicklow, and Kaelum O’Connor, of the same address, appeared before the sitting of Wicklow Criminal Circuit Court charged with violent disorder and production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury.Counsel for both men, Conor Rubalcava BL, who was standing in on behalf of their legal teams, told the court that the defence had only received relevant CCTV footage in November.Both accused were given a trial date of June 9, 2026, with the court informed that the trials are expected to take two weeks.Kaelum O’Connor In further proceedings relating to the same incident, Kyle O’Connor (18), of Ballywaltrim Heights, Bray, is charged with violent disorder and production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury.The court was told that the prosecution is currently in the process of obtaining a report to determine whether the accused is fit to plead.Ed Sweetman BL, for the defence, said an update would be welcome, noting that a report obtained by the defence states that Mr O’Connor is unfit to plead. The court heard that the prosecution is experiencing delays in obtaining its report, with Mr Kelly stating: “It is as troublesome on this side of the house as it is on your side of the house.”Wille Moorehouse Judge Patrick Quinn noted that June should be sufficient time to establish whether the defendant is fit to stand trial.James Fell (24), of Fassaroe, Bray, Co. Wicklow, and Sean McCann (22), of Wolfe Tone Square North, Bray, Co. Wicklow, who are also charged with violent disorder and production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury, were likewise given trial dates of June 9.In separate proceedings in Dublin, Patrick Fitzpatrick (32), of Heather Hall, Kilruddery Glen, Bray, Co.
