South Korean firm starts aiding mangroves conservation in Pampanga
SASMUAN, Pampanga – The South Korean-led Hann Philippines has turned over a speedboat and a mangrove nursery to the Sasmuan local government. It is also building a bamboo earth dike on eroded portions of a mangroves forest protected by an international treaty since 2021. Hann’s social arm, the Hann Foundation Inc. (HFI), on Jan. 16 also led the planting of 128 pagatpat (Sonneratia alba) and 140 bakawan (Rhizopora) along a 20-meter eroded section of a dike ringing the 405-hectare mangroves called Bangkung Malapad.
