Ireland get just over a thousand tickets for play-off
Republic of Ireland fans are preparing for a major ticket scramble after it was confirmed the travelling support have been allocated just 1,024 tickets for the World Cup play-off semi-final away to Czech Republic.
Troy Parrott's glorious hat-trick in Hungary sent the Boys in Green into the play-offs for this summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the USA.
Heimir Hallgrimsson's men play the Czechs at Fortuna Arena in Prague on 26 March. The compact ground holds 19,370 so a modest away allocation was anticipated.
On Friday, the FAI's Ireland Football Supporter Liaison Officer Gary Spain confirmed the volume of tickets that will be made available to away fans, posting on social media platform X: "This will obviously be heavily oversubscribed. Allocation will be based on the last ten undersubscribed away games."
Applications will open at the end of next week.
If Ireland get past Czech Republic, they will face either Denmark or North Macedonia in the play-off final at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 31 March.
