An Ghaeltacht win proved extra poignant for Ó Sé clan
An Ghaeltacht's triumph in the AIB All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football final against Derry side Glenullin on Sunday was a proud day for the Kerry club but it was also a poignant occasion, particularly for the Ó Sé clan.
Among the players picking up a winner's medal was Pádraig Ó Sé, son of the late, great Páidí who won Sam Maguire eight times during his own storied inter-county playing career, before adding a further two as manager of his beloved Kingdom.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport's Pauric Lodge after guiding An Ghaeltacht to glory at Croke Park, manager Fergal Ó Sé expressed his joy at victory but also highlighted what it meant for his cousin.
Pádraig delivered a 25th All-Ireland medal at either club or inter-county level for a member of the wider Ó Sé family, which also includes famous contributions by Kerry greats Darragh, Tomás, and Marc.
"It's great to win an All-Ireland with your club and it's something that will keep this group of players together. Personally, I'm just so delighted to be part of it," manager Fergal said.

"The player number five is my first cousin Pádraig and I'm absolutely thrilled for him," he said.
"He's the son of my uncle and I'm very proud of him today, and you know for a long time when you're living in Ard a Bothar... he lived under the shadow of a giant. He came out from under that shadow today and he won his All-Ireland medal. His All-Ireland medal and nobody in Ard a Bothar has an All-Ireland medal like that one and I'm delighted for him."
An Ghaeltacht won Sunday's final by a 0-12 to 0-06 margin, having built up a sizeable eight-point advantage by half-time.
