Urgent food recall issued for ready-meal product as 'health risk' fears emerge

A health food brand has issued an urgent recall notice for two of its ready meals over a potential health risk to people with certain allergies. PUREPOWER Nutrition is recalling its Chicken & Chorizo Paella after it was mispacked with Chicken Chow Mein.The Spanish dish contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label and could therefore pose a threat to those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. As a precaution, PUREPOWER Nutrition is also recalling the chow mein as it was mispacked with the paella.The Food Standards Agency (FSA) explained: "PUREPOWER Nutrition is recalling Chicken & Chorizo Paella because it has been mispacked with Chicken Chow Mein and contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label, and is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."The business is also recalling Chicken Chow Mein as a precaution as it has been mispacked with Chicken & Chorizo Paella."Customers who purchased either of the products should return them to where they were bought from to get a full refund. For more information, people who purchased the products can contact the company's customer care line on quality@purepowernutrition.com.The FSA added: "PUREPOWER Nutrition is recalling the above products from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall."The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products."The products affected by the recall are in 400g packages. The paella ready meal being recalled has got an use by date up to and including January 17, while the chicken chow mein product has an use by date up to and including January 15.
