Update: Man and child (12) found dead at two separate Dublin houses named

Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies at domestic residences in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 and Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on Thursday 8th January 2026. Gardaí and emergency services were called to a domestic residence in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot at around 8:30am. A body of a male (aged in his 40s) was discovered deceased at the scene. In follow up enquiries the body of a 12-year-old boy was discovered at a domestic residence in Clondalkin. The 48-year-old man found dead has been named locally as Wayne O' Reilly and the 12-year-old boy has been named locally as Oisin Reddin. In an update issued on January 9, gardai said that they continue to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the two bodies. Results of the Post Mortems are not being released for operational reasons. Technical examinations at both domestic residences have been completed. The investigation continues to be carried out under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer.
