Masked Singer viewers threaten to boycott in their droves after spotting 'unsettling' detail
Masked Singer fans have been left bitterly disappointed after spotting what they believe is AI has been incorporated in the clue packages. The popular Fox competition show returned with its season 14 premiere on Wednesday with a new group of wacky singers including the Eggplant, Pugcasso, Queen Corgi, Scarab and The Croissants. Before each performance, a clue package aired giving judges Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Rita Ora and viewers at home hints at who is under the mask.In previous years, the package would see the masked celebrity use props and movement to act out the nuggets of information. But this time around, it seems as though the Fox series has used artificial intelligence to create the clips. The apparent move has been branded 'lazy' by furious fans and some are even threatening to boycott Masked Singer altogether. Taking their complaints to Reddit, one even suggested setting up a petition in a bid to 'reverse' the decision. One user kickstarted a thread titled, 'AI clue packages suck.' Masked Singer fans are furious that AI has seemingly been used to create the clue packages The Fox show returned on January 7 with a new group of masked celebrities 'For a show that has spent 13 seasons being all about over the top spectacle and production this AI stuff sucks very much,' they wrote. 'I doubt it'll change since this genie is out of the bottle and we all have to live with it now, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't starting to damper a wonderful show that felt like a celebration of handmade art.'Masked Singer didn't need AI back then, it sure as hell doesn't need it now. Maybe they will stop cutting corners and let a human be responsible for this part of the process again because it's going to entirely poison a really special thing.'Commenting on the thread, another claimed the AI was 'so obvious and horrible.''I hate it,' they said as a third blasted, 'I've always admired the detail and artistry in the clue packages. The way the artists behind them managed to make everything work was always so impressive to me. 'The AI just completely ruins it for me and I feel like I haven't taken anything in from most of the clue packages so far. 'There have been so many unsettling shots as well. It's just low effort and weird.' Another said they were 'really disappointed' by the use of AI, adding that its inclusion felt 'bland and lifeless.' Viewers pointed out that the clue packages seemed 'fake' and accused the bosses of using artificial intelligence Taking their complaints to Reddit, fans suggested setting up a petition to overturn the move Responding to the thread, one said: 'I think we should boycott the show. Using AI when they've used talented artists for years is just awful.'I hope a petition can be made to reverse it. We shouldn't just let these big companies walk all over artists when they have plenty of money to pay them.'In a separate thread, another user pointed out that the clues packages didn't look 'real'.'[It's] so disappointing especially from a huge TV show who can totally do their own work if they wanted,' they continued. 'But nope! Laziness is better.'Daily Mail has contacted Fox for comment. The season 14 premiere concluded with David 'Big Papi' Ortiz being the first celebrity to be unmasked as Googly Eyes.Leung was the only judge to correctly guess his identity, while Thicke settled on Pedro Martinez, Ora opted for Manny Ramirez and Wahlberg guessed Derek Jeter.Next week's episode will reveal the identities of Croissants, who performed a cover of Leiber and Stoller's Jailhouse Rock, which was made famous by Elvis Presley.Despite wearing comically French-inspired costumes, the pair - who said they had been pulled apart - had heavy Southern accents.Their introduction also suggested they were reality TV stars.
