Superman Sequel To Bring Back a Powerful Justice League Hero – Report - Comic Book Movies and Superhero Movie News
James Gunn is reportedly preparing to reintroduce a major Justice League figure in Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman. Early reports suggest that the film will mark the arrival of a key hero from DC’s core lineup. Casting discussions and story details for the project are still developing.
James Gunn is reportedly planning to introduce Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman: Legacy. According to Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, Gunn met with several actresses before the new year to cast a new version of the Amazonian warrior. Sneider backed up cohost John Rocha’s earlier statement by confirming that Man of Tomorrow will introduce the DCU’s new Wonder Woman.
James Gunn is actively searching for a rising young actress to play the new female lead in Man of Tomorrow. He is targeting candidates who are tall, in their twenties, and skilled in combat or physical training. The scoop was corroborated by industry insider @MyTimeToShineHello, who wrote, “It’s true they are looking at every young ‘hot’ (as in, upcoming) actress for the new female lead in Man of Tomorrow, but they also need her to be tall, 20s and have fighting skills.” Gunn has not yet revealed the actress, but he is actively casting the role.
He reportedly plans to introduce Wonder Woman in a team-up film, similar to how Zack Snyder introduced the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although a standalone Wonder Woman movie is in development, with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira working on the script, Man of Tomorrow will mark her first appearance in the DCU.
Sneider confirmed that Man of Tomorrow will not feature Batman but will reference the character. The mention will serve as the first live-action acknowledgment of the DCU’s new Batman. The story centers on Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) as they unite to confront Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). The film also brings back Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo). Warner Bros. will release Man of Tomorrow on July 9, 2027.
