Two men arrested as gardaí seize cocaine and cannabis worth €769,000 in Cork
Two men have been arrested in Cork after gardaí seized drugs worth €769,000 and €40,000 in cash.The men, in their 30s and 40s, were arrested by gardaí from Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit.Gardaí seized €700,000 of cocaine, €60,000 of cannabis and over €40,000 cash, during the course of searches in the Douglas, Cork area on Tuesday.Follow-up searches were conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) in the Dublin 14 area, on New Year’s Eve and cannabis worth €9,000, along with €4,000 cash, were seized.The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.Both of the arrested men have since been charged, and will appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court on Friday morning, at approximately 10.30am.This seizure comes as part as Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy aiming to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels.Read moreYoung man caught with drugs worth €400k at Dublin Airport jailed for two yearsRead moreDubliner tried to set garda's car on fire using vegetable oilRead moreRomanian man caught wielding knife in broad daylight must return to Ireland over drug charge
