Dramatic scenes unfold as Finglas arson attack leaves five people - including three teens - hospitalised
These were the dramatic scenes following an arson attack on a property in a Dublin suburb which left five people including teenagers hospitalised.Video footage from the scene at Creston Avenue in Finglas, Dublin 11, seen by this paper, shows thick smoke billowing from the house as emergency services rushed to respond, while shocked local residents gathered nearby watching events unfold.Gardai, along with Dublin Fire Brigade and ambulance services, attended the incident as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control and ensure the safety of those inside the property.Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) said it was called at 12.40am to reports of a well-developed fire at a house off Creston Avenue in Finglas. A number of occupants had managed to escape before firefighters arrived.Six fire engines were dispatched to the scene, including a turntable ladder and a foam tender.Firefighters from Finglas, Phibsborough, Blanchardstown and Tara Street stations attended, with more than 25 firefighters involved in tackling the blaze.DFB confirmed that one person was rescued from the property by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and was treated initially at the scene by firefighters and advanced paramedics.A total of six ambulances, from both Dublin Fire Brigade and the National Ambulance Service, attended the incident, with five people taken to hospital for treatment.A woman in her 40s, a woman in her 20s and three juvenile teenagers - two female and one male - were brought by ambulance to James Connolly Memorial Hospital and Temple Street Children’s Hospital.The injuries to the female in her 40s and the juvenile male are described as serious while the injuries to the three other individuals are described as non-life- threatening.The fire was brought under control in the early hours of the morning, and Dublin Fire Brigade handed the scene over to Gardai at 4am.Gardai have confirmed they are treating the incident as an arson attack and investigations are ongoing.Anyone with information or any persons who may have video footage (including CCTV and dash cam) from the area between the times of midnight and 1am on Wednesday morning, December 31 is being urged to contact Gardai.Anyone with any information is asked to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01-6667500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
