US accuses Rwanda of inflaming conflict in DR Congo as fighting intensifies | DW News
Fighting has intensified in the Democratic Republic of Congo despite a US-brokered peace deal with Rwanda. Rwandan-backed M23 rebels launched an offensive in January and first took control of the eastern city of Goma. They then moved south and took Bukavu. In a fresh advance last week they took the city of Uvira on the border with Burundi. The conflict over mineral-rich region has set off a humanitarian crisis that is still deepening.
