Infant in critical condition after horror crash in Louth as Gardai close road

The road has been closed and local diversions are in place (stock image)An infant boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a collision between two vehicles in Louth on Saturday evening.Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision, which occurred on the R132 at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, Co. Louth at approximately 8.20pm on Saturday, December 6.The driver of the first car, a woman aged in her late 20s, was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries.The passenger in that car, an infant boy, was removed to the Children's University Hospital in Temple Street, Dublin, where he remains in critical condition.The driver of the second vehicle, a man aged in his early 50s, and a female passenger, a teenager, were removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries.The R132 is currently closed and awaiting Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene.
