Australia declares disaster status as 20 uncontrolled bushfires raze regions
NSW RFS spokesperson provides details on Redhead bushfireA fire in NSW's Hunter Valley region has been brought under control. The threat from the massive blaze has been downgrade as conditions for this particular blaze continue to ease after a southerly change moved across the fireground earlier today. The blaze has not been extinguished and continues to burn north of Redhead. It has already burned more than 64 hectares so far.Speaking to the ABC, NSW RFS spokesperson Nathan Freeman shared new details on the Redhead burn. "Aerial assets and ground crews are working to slow the fire as conditions change throughout the day," Mr Freeman said."Between RFS and Fire and Rescure NSW, there were 110 firefighting crews last night, and today, 32 appliances and three aircrafts. Crews/trucks have come from Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley to respond to this fire."Ground crews will continue to fight the fire throughout the night and into tomorrow.
