Polar plunge expected for KELOLAND this week
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — More arctic air is looking to move into KELOLAND Wednesday. Meteorologist Jaelyn Borresen has the details on just how cold it could feel.It has been a cold start to December across KELOLAND and more frigid temperatures are on the way for Wednesday night. Not only will we be dealing with lows below zero, but also some of our lowest wind chill values so far this season. $1,000 reward to find ‘headhunter’ poachers in Hamlin Co. This is going to keep becoming a more common term as we head further into winter. Just to refresh your memory, the wind chill temperatures is how cold animals or people feel when outdoors. This value is determined using a specific equation that involves air temperature and wind speed. With even just a slight breeze, it can make it feel much colder very quickly. For example, when it’s 10 below zero and the wind is 10 mph it can feel like 28 below.On Thursday morning, wind chills across KELOLAND will range from minus 5 to minus 20. You will want to make sure to throw on the extra layers and cover up any exposed as frostbite can occur in less than 30 minutes.The good news though is that a warm up is in store for the second half of this week.
