Ben Seghir Nominated for GLOBE SOCCER Emerging Player Award

Marrakech – Elyesse Ben Seghir has been announced today, as one of six finalists for the GLOBE SOCCER Emerging Player Award. The award, which acknowledges the most promising young footballers in the world, was last won by Lamine Yamal in 2024. The other finalists for the recognition are Pau Cubarsi (Spain, Barcelona), Desire Doue (France, Paris Saint-Germain), Arda Guler (Turkiye, Real Madrid), Joao Neves (Portugal, Paris Saint-Germain), and Kenan Yildiz (Turkiye, Juventus), with the PSG pair being among the favorites to win the award.  While Ben Seghir is not a favorite for the award, the nomination confirms his status as one of the most highly-regarded young talents in world football.  After a promising 2024-2025 season with AS Monaco, Ben Seghir has yet to find his footing since his move to Bayer Leverkusen. In 11 appearances this season for the Bundesliga side, the Moroccan has yet to register a goal contribution.  Ben Seghir was completely sidelined in the German club’s last four matches, registering a total of zero minutes of gametime for the club since November 8.  The Moroccan international has previously shown he can perform at a high level, and he will need to do so again soon, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations being right around the corner. The GLOBE SOCCER Awards ceremony will take place in Dubai on December 28.
