'One of the best jockeys in the world' - Ryan Moore returns from three-month injury layoff with five rides at Lingfield

Ryan Moore has rides in five of the nine races on his comeback from injury at Lingfield on Wednesday, starting with Sovereign Wealth in the opening 7f nursery (11.30).The son of Frankel, who was second on his first all-weather start at Chelmsford last time, is one of two mounts the world’s highest-rated jockey has for George Boughey, with whom Moore has an association through the sprinter Believing.Moore, who has not ridden since suffering a stress fracture to his leg in August, also partners Boughey's poorly drawn Invited (2.30), who finished down the field at Kempton last month. In the 6f novice stakes (12.00), Moore looks to have a good chance of a winner on the Richard Hughes-trained Lazzar, who is just 1lb shy of the highest rating in the five-runner field.  The son of Mehmas is bidding to score at the tenth attempt and Hughes said: “Hopefully we might be able to give Ryan a winner and I was pleased when the race cut up at the declaration stage.Richard Hughes: "Hopefully we might be able to give Ryan a winner""Obviously it’s great to have him on board and it’s good he’s back as we need him as a sport. He’s had a good run with injuries before this though and it’s part of the job as I know from experience.”Later, Moore has a rare ride for John and Thady Gosden on topweight Morrophore in the feature Winter Oaks Trial Fillies’ Handicap (2.00) and the jockey got ahead of the game last weekend when riding the four-year-old in her latest piece of work in Newmarket.Tom Goff, adviser to owner George Strawbridge, is more than happy to have Moore on board for the filly’s first start since September.Ryan Moore in action on Morrophore (right) on Saturday morning He said: “When John Gosden rang me and said that Ryan was available for the ride on Morrophore obviously we were delighted to have him. He’s one of the best jockeys in the world, if not the best. We wish him all the best with his comeback and hopefully it goes really well and he then goes to Hong Kong and rides lots of winners.“Morrophore won well at Ascot when Luke Catton rode her very well. She got a bit sick in the middle of the year and had some time off and had a run up at Newmarket and we’ve kept her in training through the winter to have a crack at the Winter Oaks Trial and then the Winter Oaks itself in January."Moore also rides newcomer Evening Fades for William Haggas in the 1m maiden fillies' stakes (1.30).Looking for free bets?
