Mother pays tribute to son who died following crash between e-bike and car

Tributes have been paid to Waterford crash victim Sammy Hanrahan, who died on Friday following a collision involving his e-bike and a car last week.Sammy Hanrahan, 18, died on Friday, November 21, from injuries he sustained in the collision which occurred on the Cork Road in Waterford city at around 7.45pm on Sunday, November 16.Mr Hanrahan, of Clonard Park, Ballybeg, Waterford, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries. Gardaí announced his death on Friday, and reiterated their appeal for any witnesses to come forward.“Any road users with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam footage from the area at the time, are asked to provide it to investigating gardaí. He also went on to win the U13 Hurling Championship in 2020 under managers Deaker Wyse and Dayne Flynn.“Many of Sammy’s teammates and close friends, continue to play with our club today at minor and U20 level. His presence and the friendships formed during those years will be fondly remembered by all who shared the pitch with him.
