Historic country pub shares first AI-generated Christmas advert
The Boatside Inn, Warden, stepped into the festive season by launching its own Christmas advert video, created entirely using the power of artificial intelligence.
This year, the 250-year-old country pub is blending tradition with modern thinking in a way that sets it apart.
James Middleton, owner of the pub, said: “Being a 250-year-old country pub is a privilege, but it also comes with a responsibility to keep evolving.
"We’re proud of the Boatside Inn’s heritage, but we never want to stand still. Innovation is how we stay relevant without losing our soul.

"That means embracing new ideas, new technology and new ways to connect with our customers, whether that’s creating our first-ever AI-generated Christmas advert, offering modern online experiences like ‘Gift a Drink,’ or designing menus that blend tradition with today’s tastes.
"For us, staying current isn’t about changing who we are; it’s about finding creative ways to bring a historic pub into the modern world,” he added.
Alongside the new advert, the team launched various winter packages and special offers, designed to bring extra warmth and value to the colder months.
One of the standout additions is the new 'Gift a Drink' feature on the Boatside website, allowing customers to send a drink to a friend, family member or colleague with just a few clicks.
The Boatside Inn will also run its festive advent calendar throughout December. Guests can pop into the pub and add their name and email to the Secret Santa Jar on the bar for a chance to be drawn each evening. Winners will receive a prize revealed on the advent calendar for the following day, with some prizes worth up to £150.
Festive food lovers are well catered for. The Boatside Inn will be serving its Christmas party menu alongside the full winter menu from December 3 to January 3, with early booking strongly advised as places are filling fast.
