Methodist Family Health to Open Children’s Behavioral Hospital in Jonesboro
Methodist Family Health of Little Rock, a nonprofit provider of behavioral health services for children and families, will open a 70-bed acute psychiatric hospital in Jonesboro in January.
Methodist Children’s Behavioral Hospital-Jonesboro will open on Jan. 13, serving patients under the age of 18 who need short-term inpatient treatment for mental health crises such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and self harm, the organization said in a press release last week. As an acute care hospital, the facility will provide in-patient care for a few days to a couple of weeks, the organization said.
Methodist Family Health purchased the Arkansas Continued Care Hospital at the site last year for $13 million, according to Craighead County property records. The organization renovated the building at 3024 Red Wolf Blvd. to add safety features for acute psychiatric patients under 18 years old.
Methodist Family Health operates a variety of facilities, offering inpatient and outpatient services, residential programs and counseling clinics. The organization also operates Methodist Children’s Behavioral Hospital in Maumelle, which offers both acute and subacute care for Arkansas children and families with psychiatric, behavioral and emotional issues.
