Tiverton girls soccer advances to D4 state final with 2-1 semifinal win over Davies

The Tiverton High School girls soccer team is headed to the Division IV state championship after defeating Davies 2-1 in a hard-fought semifinal match Wednesday at Tiverton High School. The two teams battled through a scoreless first half before Tiverton broke through in the 34th minute when Beatrice Pimentel found the back of the net off an assist from Tori Murray. Davies responded when captain Keily Silva Rivera scored to tie the game and keep the Patriots’ season alive. But the Tigers weren’t finished. With time running out in regulation, Leah Committo headed home what proved to be the game-winner to send Tiverton to the state final. The Tigers will face their championship opponent Sunday at Rhode Island College.
