Munster 17-15 Connacht recap and result as hosts maintain 100% URC record

Munster have edged past Connacht this evening in a tight and tense URC match at Thomond Park. The sides shared six tries on the night, but Connacht's wastefulness in terms of conversions was their undoing as Munster squeaked past on a score of 17-15. Munster got off to an ideal start and when Jack O'Donoghue powered over in the opening quarter, it was no less than they deserved. JJ Hanrahan's kick didn't find the mark however, a theme for both teams on the night. Moments later, the impressive Byron Ralston benefitted from some weak Munster defending, finding a couple of soft shoulders before touching down to level proceedings, with Cathal Forde the man unable to add the extras for the visitors. Ralston added a second try shortly after after a fine cross-kick, but again, the conversion was missed. Munster went on to punish this profligacy when Diarmuid Kilgallen sniffed out an intercept try, with Hanrahan adding the extras. Paul Boyle managed to sneak over the line to put Connacht ahead at the break (With another conversion missing), but that was to be the end of Connacht's scoring, with the visitors limited in attack after the injury to Ralston early in the second-half. Jack O'Donoghue won the game with his powerful carry and finish in the final quarter to seal the win for Munster and improve their URC record to five wins from five for the campaign.
