Sport for Business Sport for Social Good 2025
The 2025 Edition of Sport for Social Good took place in Dublin yesterday, and we will have filmed coverage of the four specific elements that were recorded in the coming days.
First into the hot seat was Karen Coventry, newly appointed as the CEO of Special Olympics Ireland for a conversation about the importance of the organisation, the impact it has on athletes and families of those with an intellectual disability and the excitement growing around next year’s National Special Olympics Games, the first time they will have been held in eight years, and gathering over 1,200 athletes across 12 different sports.
We were then joined by Cliona Horan, Brian Hughes and Neasa Russell for an insight into the Allianz Next Gen events and the player pathways that those who shine as potential stars can then go on to realise a dream that might never have seemed real until they walked through the door.
Colin Sharkey and Shane MacArdle from the Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnerships took us through the workings of the Local Sports Partnership network and how it combined so effectively with local authorities across the country in delivering sport and physical activity in harder-to-reach demographics.
The morning concluded with a discussion with Brian Crooke, who has established ParkHIIT as a social enterprise that is democratising the delivery of resistance training in eight different locations across Dublin, with further expansion on the horizon.
The work we do in highlighting areas where sport can be the conduit for real and lasting impact across society is supported by our partnership with Allianz.
