Met Éireann issues status yellow rain warning for five counties as heavy showers forecast
7-Day Weather Forecast: September 15th - 21st Keith Kelly and Darragh NolanToday at 19:34Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for five counties.The warning, which comes into effect at 6pm tomorrow and expires at 3am on Wednesday morning, will affect counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Galway.As part of its warning, the national forecaster is telling people to be aware of the impact of “blustery rain” which includes treacherous travel conditions, poor visibility and localised flooding.For visitors to Tullamore for the National Ploughing Championships, tomorrow morning should start off dry and bright and there will be just isolated showers. However, more rain will spread during the day and could turn heavy, particularly in the southwest.The coming days are set to continue unsettled with more rain and showers on the way, and it will turn windy at times as well.Wednesday will be “dry and blustery” in most areas, with just isolated showers and some sunny spells, though there may be more frequent showers in the south coast in the morning. Highest temperatures will be between 16 and 19C.Rain will persist for much of the day in the south on Thursday, but it will be drier and brighter in the north of the country, with highs of 15 to 17C.The current signs for Friday show a bright day, though there will be some showery spells. Highest temperatures will again be between 15 and 17C.Indications for the coming weekend show the unsettled weather is “likely to continue”, with more showers and outbreaks of rain forecast.
