Adam Scott Has The Perfect Pitch For Parks & Rec Spinoff

Parks and Rec star Adam Scott has given his idea for a spinoff to the hit sitcom. Scott rose to fame in the role of the brilliant but socially awkward Ben Wyatt on the successful NBC sitcom, which concluded its initial run in 2015, before returning for A Parks and Recreation Special in 2020. The show has an enduring appeal with fans, and many big-name stars had prominent roles in the cast of Parks and Recreation. The successful special five years after the show's ending showed that the prospect of revisiting the Parks and Rec world is something that could be achieved successfully, and Scott has weighed in with his idea. During an appearance on The Awardist podcast (via Apple Podcasts), Scott talked about an idea he has for a Parks and Recreation spinoff show focused on the hapless Jerry Gergich. He mentions how Jerry is the character he would most like to see post-show, and how his role as Mayor of Pawnee worked out. Check out Scott's comments below: [The character I'd most like to see is] probably Jerry. When we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee. I’d like to see how that worked out, like, if there were any scandals or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run. I feel like Jerry would have done a terrific job. [Aziz Ansari's Tom would also] be a good one to check in with. What This Means For The Prospect Of A Parks & Rec Spinoff Jerry Would Certainly Be A Fun Character To Explore As one of the best-written and most interesting characters, Jerry would be a great choice for a spinoff show to be centered around. His role as Mayor of Pawnee is one that could have been farmed for a lot of humor, and it is no wonder that Scott has chosen him as the focal point for any Parks and Rec spinoff. Related Parks & Rec's Best Couple Only Exists Because Of An Improvised Moment By Aubrey Plaza Parks and Recreation has many brilliant moments of improvisation, and one by Aubrey Plaza made one of the show's best couples possible. As the butt of many of the jokes, Jerry turned out to be a multi-layered character, with an interesting backstory and some unexpected talents (like his artistic ability). But, more than that, he was also a character well-liked by the rest of the characters, and this would contribute to a successful spinoff, which could feature numerous Parks and Rec characters. Our Take On A Jerry Parks And Rec Spinoff It Seems Unlikely, But Not Impossible Jerry is one of the most enjoyable characters in the sitcom and would have been a great choice for a spinoff series, especially after he had a stint as mayor. However, it feels unlikely that a Parks and Rec spinoff show will happen, especially with 10 years since Parks and Recreation season 7 came to a conclusion. However, nothing should be ruled out, and there has been a trend of past shows being revived years after they finished. While it would seem very unlikely, there is no guarantee that a Parks and Rec spinoff will not happen, and, if it does, there is no better choice of character for it to focus on than Jerry.
