Murder suspect charged and named as victim identified

Police descended on Manchester Road on Wednesday, July 2, following reports a man had been seriously injured and required assistance. The victim, who has now been identified as 27-year-old Fatih Zengi, died shortly after officers arrived on the scene. After launching a murder investigation, police arrested 31-year-old Indogan Erdogan, of no fixed abode. He has now been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article. Erdogan has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court on Saturday, July 5. Suggested reading Police initially closed Manchester Road before reopening it on Thursday and a cordon and forensic tent remained at the scene. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, who is leading the investigation, warned members of the public to expect a continued police presence in the area. He said: “On behalf of Wiltshire Police, I would offer condolences to the family of Fatih Zengi as they come to terms with their loss. “I would also like to thank the local community for their patience and support during this investigation. “There will continue to be further police presence over the coming days in support of the ongoing investigation and for community reassurance.”
