Ireland fall to heavy friendly defeat to United States
The Republic of Ireland lost 4-0 to the United States in their friendly in Cincinnati.
Lynn Biyendolo’s 11th-minute volley put the world number one-ranked team ahead and just before half-time Izzy Rodriguez added the second, firing home after goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan could only parry Emma Sear’s shot on the turn.
Yazmeen Ryan’s scored her first goal for the senior side in the 66th minute after being afforded too much space around the penalty spot and Alyssa Thompson finished things off four minutes from the end for Emma Hayes’ outfit.
