Panic as adorable baby boy is snatched 'by woman who's refusing to give him up'
Police in South Dakota are searching for a missing baby boy after a woman asked to care for him temporarily allegedly refused to give him up. Chosen Butler, who is just seven months old, was reported missing on February 28 and was last seen February 27. On Tuesday, the Sioux Falls Police Department issued an arrest warrant against Betty Cross, 38, alleging she has kidnapped the tot. Sam Clemens, a spokesperson for the department, told reporters that Cross had refused to hand over custody of the boy. They did not say if the two are related. The arrest warrant carries a $100,000 bond, with Clemens adding that they believe Butler to safe at this time. KXRB report that Butler's parents considered Cross a close friend who they felt comfortable leaving the child with. According to the South Dakota Missing Persons Clearinghouse, Butler is described as having blue eyes and brown hair. Clemens said: 'Because of the nature of the report, I’m not able to go into details on what the post says or even confirm any of that information.'The best I can say is there is no safety concerns at this point in time. Obviously, if we have different information, that may change. But at this point, we believe he’s safe.'Cross is also listed on the state missing persons site, describing her as an African American female with brown eyes and black hair. Part of the missing profile says: 'Law enforcement are trying to locate Betty and missing infant, Chosen Butler, who is believed to be in her care.'Clemens said that anyone with information is urged to call the Sioux Falls Police Department.
