European Nation Burns In Riots After Anti-NATO Leader Loses Crucial Election; Rivals Celebrate

Serbia saw scenes of celebration and violence after long-time leader Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat to the student-backed opposition, ending 14 years of political dominance.

Supporters of the Students’ List poured into the streets of Belgrade chanting and celebrating, while elsewhere protesters attacked police convoys and set fire to tents used by pro-Vucic supporters. Vucic, who had been backed by Vladimir Putin, blamed foreign interference and Serbia’s independent media for the loss.
