Trail race raises $17K for cancer foundation

Hundreds of runners gathered at Wesley Clover Parks on Sunday morning for the inaugural Hybrid Heart trail race in support of cancer patients and local support services. CTV's Camille Wilson speaks with race director Tyler Booth, who organized the five-kilometre and 10-kilometre races to honour his late mother and support families navigating serious diagnoses. Participant Marc Boyille and his daughter Vanessa Hamelin ran the wooded courses to support family members battling cancer, helping push event fundraising totals past $17,000. Ottawa Cancer Foundation representative Angie confirmed that all race proceeds will fund free community services, including nutritional counseling, clinical navigation, mental health therapy and rehabilitation workshops.
