Can Burnham end homelessness?

Andy Burnham is "confident" that every rough sleeper will have a route off the street before Christmas, Downing Street has said, with the chancellor set to confirm funding for the plan in the budget.

John Healey will confirm £432m to help deliver the PM's pledge and extend support through the end of this parliament, with total funding to hit £874m.

The most up-to-date, annual, national statistics estimated there were 4,793 people sleeping rough on a single night in autumn 2025 in England.
