‘CARNEY WON’T BACK DOWN’: Trump Rages Over Canada ‘HATE AD’; Ottawa Turns Midterms Into Tariff Clash

The US has accused Canada of election interference just days before the November 3 midterm elections, putting fresh strain on relations between Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Washington claims Canadian officials are using anti-Trump advertising, retaliatory tariffs, political meetings and campaigns targeting Republican-leaning states to influence American politics.

The US Embassy in Ottawa has singled out Canadian Industry Minister Melanie Joly, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and other Canadian officials, warning that Washington could respond if their activities amount to election interference. US Ambassador Pete Hoekstra says the administration is monitoring Canadian political activity closely.
