Israeli warplanes have struck a residential building near the al-Nuseirat market in central Gaza, bringing another explosion to an area surrounded by homes, shops and civilians. The immediate casualty toll and full extent of the destruction were not clear from the information available. The location, however, places the strike close to one of Nuseirat’s commercial areas, where residents rely on local markets for food and essential supplies. Nuseirat is a densely populated part of central Gaza that has repeatedly been affected by Israeli military operations during the war. Displaced Palestinians have also sought shelter across central areas of the enclave, adding further pressure to crowded residential neighbourhoods. The latest strike comes amid continuing efforts to prevent another major escalation. But for residents of Nuseirat, the immediate reality is another residential building hit from the air and renewed uncertainty over whether further attacks will follow.
