EUROPE ON FIRE: 4TH Nation Erupts In Riots; Cops Injured As Police Clash With Anti-Far Right Crowd

Violent clashes erupted in A Coruña, northwestern Spain, on Wednesday after a rally by Santiago Abascal, leader of the right-wing Vox party, sparked protests against his appearance. Thousands gathered to oppose the rally, with demonstrations later escalating into confrontations between protesters and riot police. Footage shows burning barricades, overturned rubbish bins, fireworks and police vans as officers moved to disperse the crowds. According to Spain’s government delegation in Galicia, two people were arrested on suspicion of public disorder and offences against police officers, while at least 12 officers were injured. Local media also reported injuries among protesters and journalists. Authorities defended the police response, while protest organisers and several political groups accused officers of using excessive force. Abascal condemned attempts to disrupt his rally, insisting that his party had the right to hold public events. The unrest highlights the political tensions surrounding Vox and its right-wing platform in Spain.
