Perth voters can cast ballots online or by phone

Online voting in Perth, Ontario, gives municipal election voters a week to cast ballots by internet or telephone, a system the town has used since 2006. CTV's Dylan Dyson speaks with Perth resident Philip Clement, who says he trusts the technology, while Donna questions whether the system is secure and Ben says he struggles with computers. The town provides voting kiosks and assistance for residents who need help, while the City of Ottawa has cited digital security, internet access, recounts and voters' list concerns as reasons not to adopt online voting this election. In Perth's 2022 municipal election, turnout was 46.1 per cent compared with Ottawa's 43.79 per cent, and voters have until 8 p.m. next Monday to cast their ballots.
