Saudi Arabia says it has intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile in the Medina area, raising fresh security concerns around one of Islam’s holiest cities. The announcement comes as Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree denies that the group carried out any attacks on Saudi Arabia today.
Saudi-backed coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki confirmed the reported interception, but questions remain over who launched the missile. The incident follows earlier reports of attacks targeting infrastructure in Medina, including a reported drone strike on an electricity distribution facility that supplies power to the Prophet’s Mosque. The Houthis denied responsibility for that incident.
