FIRE, EXPLOSION, SINKING! Iran Says Giant Container Ship HITS Naval Mine; Disaster In Hormuz
Two separate maritime incidents around the Strait of Hormuz are raising fresh concerns over the growing risks to civilian vessels in waters caught in the Iran-US confrontation. Iranian media reports that three fishermen were injured after a drone struck their boat near Sirik on Iran’s southern coast. Tasnim cited local sources accusing the United States of carrying out the strike, but that attribution has not been independently established. The injured fishermen were reportedly evacuated by another vessel. Separately, Iran’s IRGC Navy says a container ship carrying more than 2,500 containers sank south of Hormuz after striking a naval mine. Tehran claims the vessel entered an unauthorised and dangerous route before catching fire and sinking. Its identity and the condition of its crew remain unclear. The incidents underline the expanding danger around Hormuz, where escalating military tensions are increasingly affecting vessels ranging from small fishing boats to major commercial ships.
