‘LEAVE NOW!’: Houthis Put ALL Saudi Arabia On Notice; Aramco HQ, Riyadh Refinery, Airport On Target
Yemen’s Houthis have warned civilians and employees to stay away from Saudi Aramco facilities, declaring the kingdom’s oil infrastructure a “legitimate target” as the confrontation with Riyadh escalates. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree named several potential targets, including Aramco facilities in Dammam, the Aramco refinery in Riyadh and King Khalid International Airport. The warning followed reports that Saudi-led coalition strikes hit oil facilities west of Houthi-controlled Sanaa. The coalition had issued its own evacuation warning before those reported attacks. The Houthis say Saudi strikes on Yemeni oil infrastructure will trigger retaliation against Saudi energy facilities. Their threats have not established that future strikes on the named locations will occur. Saudi oil infrastructure has faced major attacks before. In 2019, strikes on Abqaiq and Khurais temporarily disrupted roughly half of Saudi crude production. The Houthis claimed responsibility, while Saudi Arabia and the United States blamed Iran, which denied involvement.
