MBS ‘BRUTALLY HUMILIATES’ Netanyahu After Israeli PM Offers To Join Saudi War Against Houthis
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly rejected an offer from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to help Saudi Arabia fight Yemen’s Houthis, according to Haaretz. Citing a diplomatic source, the Israeli newspaper reported that Netanyahu’s proposal was delivered through American mediation. The Israeli leader reportedly viewed the Saudi-Houthi confrontation as an opportunity for security cooperation that could help bring Israel and Saudi Arabia closer despite the absence of formal diplomatic relations. But MBS reportedly rejected the offer because of concerns over a potential backlash from the Saudi public. Cooperation with Israel remains politically sensitive following the Gaza war and amid Riyadh’s insistence that progress on the Palestinian issue is necessary for normalisation. The reported rejection comes as Saudi Arabia faces repeated Houthi missile and drone attacks while Saudi-backed forces battle the group inside Yemen. Netanyahu has long sought Saudi participation in the Abraham Accords, but major political obstacles to normalisation remain.
