Severe flooding in Nepal’s Gorkha district has left more than 100 foreign trekkers stranded after a landslide blocked the Budhi Gandaki River, triggering downstream floods. Authorities rescued 321 people, including 12 foreigners, while five villagers remain missing. The floods damaged homes, trekking trails and three hydroelectric plants. Rescue operations are continuing as water levels recede, while experts warn of the risks posed by sudden landslides and river blockages in Nepal’s mountainous regions.
