Around 20 people, including Israeli high school students and teachers, were injured in an explosion during a hiking trip near the Lebanese border on Monday.
The blast occurred near the Pe'er observation point in northern Israel. Police suspect unexploded ordnance may have caused the explosion, although the exact cause remains under investigation.
Emergency responders, Israeli soldiers and military helicopters were dispatched to the scene. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled scheduled plans and held urgent assessments as authorities worked to evacuate the injured.
The incident comes amid continuing exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanese border.
