Mark Carney has delivered one of his clearest pitches yet for a Canada less dependent on Donald Trump’s United States, arguing that Ottawa can expand its access to tariff-free markets while building deeper ties with Europe.
Speaking in Quebec, the Canadian prime minister said Canada already has access to a market of 1.5 billion consumers without tariffs and declared that his government intends to double that figure over the next six months through new trade agreements.
