Turkiye says the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is strictly defensive and does not authorise Ankara to send troops into another country to carry out offensive operations.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkiye is still assessing how it can help Saudi Arabia counter Houthi attacks, particularly through air-defence support, while the agreement is now ready to be submitted to the Turkish parliament for ratification.
