Explosions echoed across Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on October 8, prompting diplomats to shelter inside embassies, international schools to take safety precautions and some businesses to evacuate staff.
Residents reported repeated blasts, while at least one international school moved children into a basement. Flights at King Khalid International Airport also faced delays and cancellations.
The explosions followed renewed Houthi claims of missile attacks on Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the cause of Thursday's blasts.
The escalation follows deadly attacks on Riyadh and Abha airports earlier this week, which Saudi authorities said killed three people and wounded 36 others.
Meanwhile, fighting continues in Yemen between Houthi forces and Saudi-backed government troops, with both sides disputing control of strategic territory near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
