Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as winter approaches, with Kyiv facing fresh power outages after a major overnight missile and drone assault. Footage showed apartment blocks across the Ukrainian capital plunged into darkness, while cars and pedestrians moved through poorly lit streets. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia launched around 70 missiles and drones in the attack, while Ukrainian authorities reported at least 25 deaths and around 100 injuries. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said Russian shelling damaged energy infrastructure in several regions. Meanwhile, Ukrenergo announced further electricity restrictions, raising fears that repeated strikes could leave Kyiv facing prolonged blackouts during the freezing winter months.
