Brazil's presidential election has upended the political landscape, sending the race to a runoff after Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, son of the jailed former president Jair Bolsonaro, took 47% of the vote ahead of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The two now offer radically different visions: Lula on the left, and Bolsonaro on the far right. Bolsonaro supporters also made major gains in Congress and the Senate, meaning whoever wins on October 30th could face a difficult path to governing.
