Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the United States is closely monitoring a suspected plague-related incident at a Russian biological research facility after the death of a laboratory worker in Siberia.
Rubio told reporters that Washington does not currently see “cause for alarm”, but stressed that the situation is a “cause for focus” and said U.S. officials are “watching and monitoring it closely.” He also warned that if an infectious disease escapes containment, “it could quickly spread.”
