Mecca defence pact faces 'first real test' as Houthis advance in Yemen, analyst says

A meeting is being held in Riyadh between government officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye to discuss regional tension and the conflict in Yemen.
It comes as Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia, continue a counteroffensive.

Mohamad Elmasry, a media studies professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, says the Riyadh meeting is the first real test for the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement as Yemen’s conflict escalates.
